Encoder

Incremental encoders generate pulses that can be converted to position, velocity / speed, and angle information. This information is defined on the basis of the number of pulses per revolution that the encoder sends to the control unit.

More information about Encoder

Unlike an absolute encoder, a incremental encoder must start from a starting point in order to be able to indicate a position afterwards. Thanks to a number of variants, incremental encoders can be optimally adapted to applications in vehicles, factory, logistics and process automation. Incremental encoders provide e.g. information on driving direction and speed in driverless vehicles. The encoder is mounted either directly on the motor, on a shaft or a running wheel.
