These are available today in a variety of contexts for a variety of applications. Some obvious examples are military, medical and aerospace applications. To shield displays have previously always involved a compromise in terms of the optical readability.

Modern materials and techniques, however, gives new opportunities with regard to interference suppression, readability, reflexes and insensitivity to changing temperature and related condensation and icing problems.

Traditionally, screening of displays, windows and screens was performed with copper electrically bonded to the apparatus housing to provide a continuous cage around the object.

In recent times, with increasing demands, this kind of easier networking solutions in most cases failed to meet users’ wishes for good readability. The resolution of the shielded displays and workstations have followed roughly the same growth rate as the PC side. Suppliers provide panels with increasingly higher resolution and user demands increase.
