Structural absorbers

When standard absorber materials cannot accommodate a unique design, structural absorbers provide a customised solution without compromising performance. Laird's injection-moulded, cast and machined absorber materials are available in epoxy-, silicone- and thermoplastic-based formulations and can be manufactured in complex three-dimensional shapes. These materials are magnetically loaded yet electrically non-conductive, allowing them to be placed in direct contact with electronic circuitry where required.

Designed to reduce electromagnetic interference, suppress surface currents and improve RF performance, structural absorbers are suitable for a wide range of demanding applications. Solutions can be tailored for both low- and high-volume production and offer benefits such as resistance to temperature cycling, weatherproof performance, excellent abrasion resistance and simplified assembly. Certain material grades also feature low outgassing properties, making them suitable for space and satellite applications where long-term reliability is essential.
